New vs returning visitors

Crazy Egg sets a cookie to track whether a visitor is new or returning. The cookie is named is_returning and has a value of either 0 or 1.

A returning visitor is one that has previously visited any tracked page on your domain within the last 5 years.

You can prevent Crazy Egg from setting any cookies by setting a global JavaScript variable named CE_NO_COOKIES to true somewhere on your tracked pages.

The default expiration date of the cookie is  5 years. This can be changed by setting a global JavaScript variable named CE_COOKIE_EXPIRE_DAYS to a number value; this value is the number of days before the cookies expire.

Noteworthy mentions ...
1. If a visitor has cleared their browser-stored cookies, they will be tracked as a new visitor on the site.
     2. If a visitor has set the setting on their browser to not allow cookies to be stored then tracking will not occur.
