Are you seeing a message in the Check Crazy Egg Installation: “Multiple Snapshots for the Same Page”? Maybe you see something like this:
Why does this happen?
When an account has more than one Snapshot tracking the same URL, you’ll see this error. For example, if an account has three Snapshots tracking http://crazyegg.com/blog/glossary/multivariate-testing, then this error will happen.
The steps outlined in this article will help you straighten things out.
Locating Your Duplicate Snapshots
Use the Search field at the top of your Dashboard to find the duplicate Snapshots that track the same URL.
In the example above, we can see that there are two Snapshots trying to track the URL, http://crazyegg.com/help.
Solving the Error
The duplicate Snapshot is the one that you've set up in the past that you may have forgotten about.
We'll need remove it from your account.
There are two options:
- Pause the Snapshot: This will switch the Snapshot to a Completed status.
- Delete the Snapshot: This will remove the Snapshot from your account.
Once you've paused or deleted the duplicate Snapshot, the newer Snapshot can start to run.
Another common issue is when there are two Snapshots for the same URL, but they each use a different screenshot device type.
(This is a scenario that should work because the Snapshots do not use the same device type, so they should be able to track.)
But, often, we forget to de-select the Traffic Type. Let's look at the below:
We can see that two Snapshots track the same URL and all three of the same device types traffic sources.
To fix this issue, de-select the device types under Track Traffic From so that there are no overlapping device types between the two.
